Played here 29th March 2012 - a group of 8. We would highly recommend this course. Well manicured greens, fairways (and rough) - where do the get the water?

    Sir's
With ever increasing costs of flights I really believe that Rio Real should consider reducing the cost of the buggies. Whilst we play Rio Real each year and enjoy the course very much there will come a time when Spanish Courses will price the regulars out of Spain.

Played there last week in tournament and the organisers were most welcoming.Challenging course which is in good condition apart from about 3 greens which have been relaid recently. They are poor at the moment and a lot of work has to be done on them. Somewhat unfortunate that there are some quirky par 3's which do the course no favours and seem to have been shoehorned into the limited space. Many long carries over the ravines which could put off the higher handicap player. Bunkers were well maintained. This course will suit players who drive the ball long and straight! The restaurant and bar staff were efficient but not particularly welcoming, which, considering the rather high prices on offer was a disappointing experience. The golf staff were very pleasant and helpful. Electric trollies 12 euros! Overall worth playing but, in common with many the Costa del Sol golf courses, they just have to understand that there is a recession on and they will have to bring prices down to attract customers.

Have to agree with Paul about Rio Real but he forgot to mention that two of the greens are "winter" and they are in better condition than the real one's !! They are supposed to be playing a top amateaur competition in June and 100% bet that it will be moved to another course...There was no starter either & worst of all no drink trolleys !!! We played Santanta, Los Lagos, Los Olivos & Santa Maria as can't complain about any of them...no discout either & bloke in club shop only mentioned the winter greens but not the state of the greens...poor show for a beautiful course (fairways) & clubhouse but it was like a ghost town with nobody there

Just returned from my golf society annual golf trip to the Costa del Sol. Played La Quinta, Capopino, Miraflores and El Chapparel. The all round service and condition was superb. Then on the Friday we played Rio Real. Course looked superb when we arrived then everything went drastically downhill. Food very expensive and poor quality. Service very abrupt. Then the golf! Went to putting green and could not believe how bad the green was. So sat in buggy waiting to tee off (no water or pencil). Teed off, walked onto 1st green and guess what, the green was even worse. In the end all 18 greens were severely diseased. We paid 72.5 euros. What a rip off! First bad greens in 7 annual trips. You've been warned!

I am a 6 handicapper and have been to the Costa Del Sol every May for last 3 years of all the courses we have played Rio Real is the fairest, most pleasing on the eye. The course has very few blind shots and yardages are easily calculated. I would put La Quinta a close second for the same reasons, but some of the other courses including Marbella & Cabopino are too short and club selection off the tee is a lottery, with the penalty for having too much club even when it is hit straight being extremely penal. therefore most enjoyable, some of the oth and

Some very good holes,but... the staff were arrogant, food & drinks & green fees were the most expensive of 6 courses we visited. fairways tees & greens were far too close together, always waiting for people near you to play, was so let down .. so fcuk em here. choose anywhere else and be pleased !!
