Could you please tell me if you have stopped taking water from the internationally important Salgados Lagoon ?

I played Salgados in October 2011 and it was in great condition.I played a twilight round the fairways were very good and the greens were a joy to try to get a birdie or par on. Overall the course was better than some of the vilamoura 6 and I will always play there first.
I play off 5 and I found it a course that you do have to think your way round but the rewards are there

I have played Salgados many times since 2004, looking forward to playing it again next week. You need to use lots of irons from the tee. Plot your way round, plenty of risk and reward on this course. Not long, however the ball doesn't run so plays longer than the card. You need to take advantage of the wide holes without water, chance to get the big stick out!
I have found this course to be in good order, and if you book well in advance not too expensive.

Played at Salgados April 2010. definitely the most technically demanding courses I've played. You really have to think about every shot, and there is always a temptation to hit the driver! I lost a lot of balls. If you are one of those golfers who likes an easy round, forget it, but it fancy a challenge.... Course condtion was good, excellent facilities and friendly staff (not in the slightest bit stuffy). highly recommended.

When i visted the algarve i enjoyed playing at the golf club. I do agree that the green was not the best considering how expensive it is. I am looking forward to going back there next year in Feb. Hopefully they will be a lot of improvement to the course otherwise i will be tempted to try elsewhere

I played this course in early August. THe course layout is great, a little tough with so much water, but lots of good birdie chances if you play sensible stuff. I have to say though, compared to all the other courses I played in the Algarve, the condition of Salgados was POOR. The greens were part grass part mud and were impossible to put on. Even the fairways were dead in places. I did discuss with them after the round as it was still the same price to play as Pinheiros Altos, Millenium or Benamor yet it was only half as good. They blamed it on the weather, but surely all the other courses are experiencing the same thing?
The chaps I played with said that they were saving money in the off season and not watering as much as they should!! In that case, reduce your green fees!!
Anyways, rant over...hopefully, they will fix it ready for when the golf season kicks in. If you plan to play, I'd check their conditions first as you may be disappointed.

Me and three mates play this course in april 2008,its a lovely course! but not easy!! not very long, but so so much water! very hard on a windy day,{which we found out!!} but still very enjoyable, watch out for the 12th, 180 yards tee to green, over water!! very tricky too judge, due to small green!!! have fun,and take extra balls!! lol!!

This one isnt for the faint hearted. Its covered with water hazards so you may need to take your mask and snorkle! Once you've come to terms with the hazards the course itself is very enjoyable. The back 9 in particular should prove to be a good test of any golfers ability. Word of warning you will be asked if you can have your picture taken on the first tee, probably not my best investment as my face gives away the fact that the tee shot was nothing short of terrible!!
