Oitavos Golf Club - Cascais, Portugal
Oitavos Golf Club at Club da Marinha is located in Cascais, Portugal, an affluent suburb of Lisbon. Opened in 2001, it was the first overseas design by Arthur Hills/Steve Forrest & Associates.
This is the Lisbon area's best golf course, host of the 2005 Portugese Open and likely the venue for many more. The first five holes play inland through woods before the golf course opens up to a wide expanse of links overlooking the Atlantic. Oitavos was Europe's first Gold Signature Audubon course, and several areas along the fairways are blocked off to protect the sensitive natural environment.
