Golfer fondly recalls learning to play in Montrose, Scotland

My mother was born and raised in Montrose, Scotland, later moving to the United States with my father. We used to visit Montrose every couple of years for an extended stay.

I grew up on Montrose golf courses. The first time I ever played, I played the Broomfield. I eventually graduated to the Medal Course. I love playing golf in Scotland and still enjoy playing Montrose more than 30 years later.

I appreciate the other reader's reviews. Too many times Montrose is in the shadows of more famous British Open courses, when it should be looked upon as one of the best links golf courses in Scotland.
